I had an absolutely amazing weekend styling a shoot for Aartifi.
Here’s a sneak peak at one of the ‘behind the scenes’ shots.
More coming soon.
P.S. Wishing you all a fabulous week.
It’s been one of those crazy busy weeks, where I’ve had no time for anything! But it is a very happy week, as Diwali is tomorrow.. one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. So here is wishing all of you a very very Happy Diwali.
and a very prosperous New Year to you all (according to the Indian calendar based on lunar cycles).
It was Karvachauth this past weekend. Karvachauth is known as the most romantic Hindu festival. During this day, wives fast for the longevity of their husbands from sunrise to moonrise, without having anything to eat or drink during this time.
It was my first time fasting for Karvachauth as a married woman – and since the first one is a little bit more of a bigger deal, I was spoilt rotten all day – and really had a great day. My mother-in-law and I spent the day at the spa (manis & pedis & hair) – and then as called for by the tradtions of Karvachauth, we dressed up as brides for the ceremonies that take place to complete the day.
The moon came out around 8.15pm – which is considerably early compared to previous Karvachauths that I have witnessed – so I was very lucky! The meal, of course, was scrumptious… but after fasting all day, I am sure all food is!
I wish for all of you: a beautiful week.
Here are a few shots of my sister and friend in Aartifi designs.
The top right image is my friend Becki, and she is wearing the lengha / outfit that I designed for all my bridesmaids for my wedding! (sorry about the phone photo quality)
The top left is my sister, in another Aartifi lengha / outfit… and she is wearing another one in the bottom right picture as well (the turquoise and white).
It is so great that I am able to dress them even though the live on the other side of the world – I love it!
Check out my website and more of my designs here.
Happy Friday & an awesome weekend to you all!
This past weekend was a big one for me. I performed at the India Mela 2011 in Victoria, as well as having a few of my designs showcased in the fashion show.. here are some of the photos that M captured from the day…
A few shots of my performance. I have mentioned before on here that I am a dancer, I have been dancing since the age of 7 and have learned a number of dance forms. Starting with the Indian classical dance form known as Bharatnatyam and continued to learn the Indian classical dance form Kathak.. which is what I do now. I was a principle dancer for a dance company in London where I learnt a specialised dance form which we called Semi-Classical Bollywood. It’s a fusion of Kathak dance and Bollywood dance… this is what I performed this past weekend.
It was my first performance in North America, and I loved every second of it… and really look forward to many more!
It was an extremely busy weekend.. so I apologise for the lack of blogging over the weekend! The next couple of weeks are going to be just as busy, my brother just arrived in town today from Zimbabwe.. and my sister and cousins are arriving this weekend! I am super excited to have them here and can’t wait for some of the great things we have planned.
I promise to post some pictures of what we get up to, as soon as I get a chance.
I am so very excited to share this with you! My new website is finally finished and ready to be launched… and I am giving all my lovely readers a sneak peak at the website first before I announce it tomorrow! Head on down to Aartifi to have a look at it…
Some of you might remember me to talking about a few projects I was working on that I was very excited about, well the website is one of them! The images shown in this post was another… M and I got dressed up in our wedding outfits again so that we could have some amazing shots taken for my website. It was a dream of mine to design my own wedding outfit.. so I did! I designed mine along with a coordinating outfit for M. I also designed all my bridesmaids’ and his groomsmens’ outfits – and I hoping to get professional photos of those soon!
Thanks to Dave Bryson for taking these amazing images
